POSITION OBJECTIVE: Incumbents perform high school athletic grounds maintenance. The position is a non-supervisory position and distinguished from the Groundskeeper position by the experience, depth of high school athletics knowledge, ability to work independently without close supervision as well as certification requirements.

SKILLS: Skills in:
· Calibrate spreaders for application of liquid and granular fertilizer, herbicides, and warm and cool season grass seed. · Plant and prune trees and shrubs according to Arizona Landscape Professional standards. · Follow department policies and procedures; safety procedures and practices; traffic control methods. · Learn, understand and operate the District’s Cal-Sense Irrigation System. Perform sprinkler maintenance; repair lines, heads. · Operate all related landscape maintenance equipment including chain saws and other equipment weighing up to 80 lbs. · Operate a personal computer to check e-mail. · Safely operate EZ-Go cart and drive District vehicles. · Lift, empty and carry trash bags or cans weighing approximately 50 lbs. · Operate telephone and radio communications equipment properly. · Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, other departments, and school staff. · Demonstrate the willingness to assume ownership in completion of assigned tasks. · Complete work orders, and safety checklists in a complete and readable manner. · Maintain regular consistent attendance and punctuality. |

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects.
Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, and intense noises.
