Job Description:
Coronado Steel Co. is seeking a dedicated and skilled Foundry Engineer to join our team. This position is crucial in driving continuous improvement in our foundry processes, including pattern design, solidification modeling, process engineering, and capital improvement projects. You will work closely with various departments to optimize our casting processes and develop innovative solutions to meet customer demands. This role offers the opportunity for professional growth, including the eventual leadership of pattern design.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pattern Design & Solidification Modeling: Assist in the design of patterns and tooling used in the casting process. Apply solidification modeling to ensure the integrity and quality of castings.
- Robotic Grinding Cell Development: Oversee the design and implementation of robotic grinding systems to improve efficiency, reduce manual labor, and enhance precision.
- Process Engineering: Analyze and optimize foundry processes, focusing on improving production efficiency, reducing waste, and ensuring product quality.
- Capital Expenditure (Capex) & Plant Improvement Projects: Lead and contribute to projects focused on upgrading foundry equipment, improving production facilities, and ensuring safe and efficient plant operations.
- Collaboration & Leadership Development: Work with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, and quality control, to ensure alignment on engineering goals. While initially assisting with pattern design, this role will grow into leading the pattern design team as you gain experience.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive improvements in foundry processes by identifying areas for cost reduction, process efficiency, and overall product quality.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in a foundry or manufacturing environment, preferably with high alloy stainless steels.
- Knowledge of solidification modeling software (such as Solidcast or similar).
- Experience with robotic systems, automation, and process optimization in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
