Position Overview:
The Project Designer provides design services to dealership customers, including site/inventory verifications, programming, space planning, typical development, specifications, color boards (both tactile and digital), working/installation drawings, and site-to-plan review. This individual collaborates with individuals from Sales, Client Services, Design and installation firms as well as customers, to ensure accurate plans and specifications, conformance to client’s requirements and high-quality project implementation that leads to client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate all phases of the design process with the salesperson and customer, participate in sales calls and design presentations and work with customer to develop final approved plans
Collaborate with Designers to provide solutions that meet client’s functional, aesthetic and budgetary requirements
Review site; conduct field measurements and plan-to-site adherence checks
Inventory existing product; produce as-built drawings/specifications; conduct reconfigurations
Prepare finished drawings for specification and installation package
Develop product specifications; double-check specifications against plans; get specifications order-entry ready using an electronic specification program preferably
Manage changes and revisions throughout the entire process of the project
Assist in the presentation of product proposals to customers
Maintain detailed and extensive electronic project documentation, including records of all key decisions, phone conversations, approvals and sign-offs, and notes from all project planning meetings
Manage adherence to project schedule, internal budget, customer’s project budget, design task completions and quality of design work
Communicate regularly to customer and dealership regarding design project status
Develop plotting, printing, color boards, etc. for client and dealership transmittals
Actively engage with Sales, Project Management, Client Services and installation firms to ensure exceptional client experience/outcome
Other projects (such as ad hoc reporting) as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
BS or BFA in Interior Design (from a CIDA program preferred)
1 to 5 years of previous contract furniture industry experience preferred
1 to 5 years of previous healthcare industry experience preferred
1 to 2 years of experience in a dealer environment preferred
1 years of customer level interaction
3 years of AutoCAD/specification experience
Proficient in AutoCAD as well as Excel, Word, and Outlook
Prior experience with CET and/or CAP 2020 Studio preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be detail oriented and possess strong organizational skills
Must have the ability to work independently, but also be team-oriented
Excellent analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills
Self-starter, able to manage workload and balance competing priorities
Ability to meet deadlines and complete assignments with a sense of urgency
Positive attitude and the ability to maintain professionalism at all times when interacting with customers and vendors
