Description
Major Position Responsibilities
- Performs research, design, and development of production equipment.
- Responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, inspecting, modifying, rebuilding, and maintaining plant equipment.
- Complies and enforces safety procedures/standards.
- Complies and enforces Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Applies food safety engineering concepts when installing new equipment or improving existing one
- Monitors the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and initiates reordering when necessary.
- Inspect sites regularly to identify problems and necessary maintenance.
- Maintains and repairs maintenance shop equipment.
- Establishes and maintains a computerized maintenance management system (EAM) for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment.
- Schedules, plan and follow-up execution of activities for PM.
- Analyzes delays during preventive and corrective maintenance activities in order to improve MTTR.
- Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related problems.
- Ensures maintenance technicians are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
- Communicates regularly with all maintenance technicians, both individually and as a group, to ensure good two-way communication concerning maintenance issues.
- Creates and update work schedules for technicians on assigned shift according to Plant requirements.
- Hires maintenance technicians.
- Develops and keeps updated maintenance routines, procedures, and schedules.
- Conducts employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine competency, knowledge, and contribution of the maintenance technicians.
- Ensures that all maintenance technicians are trained on the most updated version of the operating procedures.
- Monitors operation of plant equipment and systems.
- Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Initiates and carries out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
- Tracks, analyzes, and improves key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance cost, PM compliance, schedule compliance, etc.
- Maintains safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Coordinates and supervise activities with mechanics and technicians.
- Adequately carries out all activities related to security and quality of the finished product.
- Must report any food safety and/or food quality problems to department supervisor.
- Work with suppliers for equipment, spare parts, materials, services, or support in case of machine failure.

- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical / Electrical Engineering (or related field) or 3 years in plant maintenance experience as a supervisor.
