About the Role:We’re hiring one dedicated in-person Algebra I tutor to provide academic support to 9th and 10th-grade students at East Williamsburg Scholars Academy. The tutor must be Spanish-speaking and will push into classrooms to assist teachers, reinforce key mathematical concepts, and help students build their confidence in Algebra I.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide small-group and one-on-one support in Algebra I to help students build strong foundational skills
- Collaborate with teachers to align tutoring sessions with classroom instruction and student needs
- Adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs and ensure student engagement
- Track student progress and provide feedback to teachers and school staff
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment
- Support Spanish-speaking students by breaking down complex topics in both English and Spanish
Schedule:
- Days: Three days per week (Monday–Friday, based on candidate’s preference)
- Time: 8:15 AM – 12:15 PM
- Duration: March 17, 2025 – May 28, 2025 (excluding holidays and school conferences)
- Key Dates Off:
- April 14–18 (Spring Recess)
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: Prior experience tutoring or teaching Algebra I
- Subject Proficiency: Strong knowledge of high school-level Algebra I concepts
- Bilingual Skills: Fluent in English and Spanish, with the ability to provide academic support in both languages
- Adaptability: Abilityto modify instruction based on student needs and classroom dynamics
- Team Player: Collaborative spirit and a desire to work closely with teachers and students
- Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to connect effectively with diverse audiences
- Passion: A commitment to educational equity and social justice for minority and low-income students
- Availability: Must be able to work the specified schedule consistently
