Corporate Resources, on behalf of our client located in Chicago (West Loop), IL, is hiring a Construction Accountant.
CONSTRUCTION ACCOUNTANT – Chicago (West Loop), IL
$70,000 - $85,000/Annually
*100% paid for benefits for employee and family
Our 75 year old commercial construction firm seeks an energetic, creative Accountant with a strong work ethic and strong attention to detail. The ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks is a necessity. This position is full-time and will manage and perform various general accounting tasks as well as some project accounting. Applicant should have 2 – 10 years of experience in construction accounting. This is a challenging position that involves a variety of responsibilities and requires strong organizational and management skills.
We are looking to hire the “right person” and will be flexible with scheduling. We can create this role around your hours so long as they are Monday – Friday between 7am – 6pm CST. We can hire a full time or a part-time candidate depending on what you need!
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ability to maintain accounting functionality/organized system
- Maintain and manage accounts receivable, accounts payable per project on a daily basis
- Analyze, organize, and prepare monthly draw submission to bank by closely working with our Project Executives and Project Managers on current projects
- Entry of all accounts payable per project
- Review accuracy of subcontractor and vendor billings and all appropriate paperwork (lien waivers, certification, etc.)
- Maintained signed change orders and sub signed change orders for system and billing
- Perform journal entries and back reconciliations
- Assist in maintaining COIs from subcontractors
- Assist with expense recording, job cost tracking
Desired Skills and Experience:
- 2-10 years’ experience as an Accountant or Sr. Accountant within the construction field
- Bachelor’s Degree with an accounting focus, strongly preferred
- Ability to manage time effectively and provide innovation when needed
- Willingness to understand corporate and industry practices and standards, processes, and activities
- Strong analytical mind who knows how to resolve problems and work well with vendors
- Attention to detail/accuracy, quick learner and internally motivated to seek out answers, generate ideas, and develop new skills
- Microsoft Office, Vista by Viewpoint, preferred
- Creativity, flexibility, and innovation a must
Salary : $70,000 - $85,000
