Corporate Transportation is seeking a Safety & Compliance Manager to provide support, direction and guidance to our teams for both our company fleet and outsourced carriers. This position will directly interact and influence the behavior, performance and knowledge base of our drivers. Additionally, this position will manage and address through training the safety & regulatory issues within the company, including working with teams to ensure policies are met.
Job Responsibilities Include:
- Develop and implement safety & compliance strategy for the fleet and establish priorities and focus areas as appropriate. Monitor and review the effectiveness of all programs using measurement and analysis.
- Management of the Safety & Compliance staff. Evaluate and oversee result outcomes and consistency of the department.
- Manage and continually monitor the fleet’s Federal CSA scores seeking 100% compliance, thus ensuring the fleet’s positive safety rating is maintained. Additionally, provide teams with CSA basic scores & reports.
- Develop and implement safety management controls and direct their implementation, establishing a best practices procedure.
- Develop policies and procedures as well as programs designed to eliminate or prevent vehicle accidents.
- Perform accident investigations as required, and ensure all accidents are accurately reported, effectively investigated, and documented appropriately
- Coordinate with team on disposition of drivers involved in accidents, compliance violations, or other safety and compliance issues requiring counseling, corrective action, or discipline
- Manage driver onboarding and ensure uniform driver hiring standards are maintained
- Develop, analyze and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable DOT regulations, and other Federal, State and Local requirements. Additionally, conduct DOT compliance audits
- Identify and direct training for drivers and management to include new driver orientation, corrective action, remedial and ongoing training. Additionally, maintain safety files & records.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of Safety & Compliance developments in the transportation industry and implement changes, adjustments, or direction as needed in response to the regulatory, or industry environment. Identify and act on key issues and trends in the industry and in our fleet
- Partner with Operations and Fleet Maintenance to ensure needed preventative and corrected measures are implemented and completed
- Oversee and ensure a response and follow up is made to any motorist complaint regarding our drivers’ behaviors on the road
- Oversee the management of the drug and alcohol testing program to ensure compliance with Federal regulations and company policy
- Administer the Safe Driving Bonus programs
- Oversee and monitor roadside inspection process reports & maintain documentation. Additionally, coach team on roadside inspection issues
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience in OSHA, MSHA, DOT, EPA and Hazmat regulatory requirements
- Strong computer & software ability, great communication (verbal & written), follow-through and training skills
- Experience with ELD’s & Accident Investigations
- Ability to write policies, procedures, documentation and reports.
