Accounting Supervisor

The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounting team, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, and supervising accounting staff. This role supports the Director for Finance and Accounting in financial analysis, compliance, and strategic planning.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
- Review and post transactions to the general ledger.
- Review invoices to the Government and Prime Contractors.
- Enter and maintain contract information in the company Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system as required.
- Assist with pricing as required.
- Assist with the organization of accounting records.
- Assist with managing budgets as required.
- Assist with preparing and reviewing financial statements, reports, and journal entries.
- Assist the Travel Management office as directed.
- Assist with training employees on expense procedures as required.
- Assist with providing support to all company employees who have issues with timecard entries, expense reports, credit cards, and travel claims.
- Assist the Director of Payroll in bi-weekly timecard processing.
- Management of multiple state tax accounts to include updating annual reports and payments.
- Assist in the year-end close-out by providing supporting documents and any other calculations as requested.
- Participate in business meetings, events, and company functions to support the management team.
- Review company policy documents as necessary.
- Help ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Supervise and manage accounting staff, including training, performance evaluation, and workload distribution.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or related field, preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 8 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience working with government contracts and/or military services preferred.

- Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel.
- Familiar with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and accounting systems, including JAMIS.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Capacity to sit for extended periods of time and maintain focus in an office environment.
- Ability to climb stairs, as the building does not have elevator access.
- Daily travel in local area during workday (including use of personal vehicle).
