QUALIFICATIONS :
Education / Certification Required :
High school graduate or equivalent supplemented by courses in technology applications or office practices
Experience Required :
At least three years’ experience in dealing with the general public, particularly students
FUNCTION :
The Secretary to Assistant Principal, High School, performs various clerical duties that require good judgment in exercising these procedures; works carefully and tactfully with teachers, students, parents, and the general public; and assists the assistant principals in compiling reports, maintaining accurate attendance records, and duplicating and distributing daily absentee lists to all teachers.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS :
Serves as a member of a customer-oriented front office team.
Assists in answering school telephone calls.
Acts as receptionist and receives visitors to the assistant principal’s office.
Receives and forwards telephone calls to the assistant principal’s office.
Assists the assistant principal in maintaining textbook records.
Initiates withdrawals and new student enrollment.
Prepares letters, memoranda, and forms as needed by the administrators.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the assistant principal and principal.
Working Conditions :
Ability to receive information and / or instruction from internal / external customers through spoken expression.
Ability to manipulate tools / equipment / keyboards.
Ability to convey information and / or instruction to internal / external customers through spoken expression.
Ability to perform work while standing and / or walking for extended periods, up to eight (8) hours a day.
Ability to see detailed information, naturally or with correction.
