What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Naval Science Instructor (SNSI) - NJROTC position at Corpus Christi Independent School District?
QUALIFICATIONS :
Education / Certification Required :
Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college / university
Certified by a selection board convened by the Chief of Naval Education / Training
Special Knowledge / Skills Required :
Retired military (W2-06).
Experience Required :
Must have served a minimum of 20 years active duty.
FUNCTION : MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS :
Keeps inventory of all government furnished equipment / materials (including annual wall-to-wall inventory).
Writes / updates lesson plans for the NJROTC curriculum.
Coordinates proper physical security of all government furnished equipment / materials with host school.
Plans extracurricular activities for the NJROTC unit (including color / honor guard ceremonies, drill team and rifle team competitive meets, field trips, mini boot camps, ship cruises, etc.).
Prepares periodic reports on program administration and logistics.
Keeps current and abreast of new developments and organization within the Navy.
Assesses unit progress to assure that NJROTC Program objectives are met.
Attends Navy-sponsored seminars to keep abreast of new requirements of program management.
Establishes rapport with school counselors and faculty members.
Makes annual presentations on the NJROTC Program to students at feeder schools for the purpose of recruiting new cadets in the program.
Takes courses of instruction to improve teaching abilities.
Counsels students in the NJROTC program.
Maintains financial accounts of operating budget.
Establishes contact with civic groups to obtain their recognition of the NJROTC Program.
