EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION REQUIRED :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Speech / Debate or Theatre Arts
- Certificate by the state of Texas to teach in Theatre Arts.
- Preferred : Master’s Degree in Theatre Arts

The High School Theatre Arts Sponsor is responsible for directing and coordinating theatre arts activities for the campus, participating in Districtwide events, coaching academic competitions related to theatre arts, and assisting the for Art and Theatre Arts consultant in planning and conducting Districtwide events.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS :
Theatre Arts Sponsor :
Directs at least one campus-based theatre arts event a year.Directs one-act play for UIL District Literary Meet.Coaches students for academic competitions related to theatre arts, including events such as Prose Interpretation, Poetry Interpretation, Duet Acting, Solo Acting, Humorous Interpretation, and Dramatic Interpretation.Prepares and travels with a minimum of ten students for competition in at least three UIL or TFA tournaments, and supervises students at the tournaments.Prepares students for Prose and Poetry competition at UIL District, Regional, and State competitions, if students qualify.Directs at least one campus-based theatre arts event a year.Remains current on rules governing UIL, TFA, and NFL competitions.Maintains all academic competition records, and complies with deadlines.Oversees repair, safety, and maintenance of District-owned materials and equipment assigned to theatre arts department.Coordinates monthly International Thespians' Society or Drama Club activities, conducts monthly meetings, and invites all eligible students to become members.Maintains accurate records of expenses, and pays all bills as appropriate, which including royalty fees.Maintains grade check to verify student eligibility for extracurricular activities.Maintains roster of academic competition results for NFL, UIL, and International Thespians' Society or Drama Club for school records, student scholarships, as well as ensures school's future standings with professional organizations.Oversees publicity of competition results.Attends all meetings called during school year by consultant for Arts and Theatre Arts.Follows activities outlined in attached Schedule of Duties and Activities for High School Theatre Arts Sponsor (Basic Program) and works with principal to modify program when appropriate.Teacher :
