Job Description:

POSITION: Mental Health Clinician (Bachelor’s level)

REPORTS TO: Mental Health Director

SUMMARY:

Provides direct clinical and consultative service in accordance with policies and procedures, Correctional Psychiatric Services [CPS] and Bristol County Sheriff’s Office policies and regulations, as well as in accordance with ethics and standards of staff member’s discipline.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate Mental Health Groups to persons served.
  • Responsible for completing progress notes and ensuring that documentation meets quality standards.
  • Interrelates and works effectively with other mental health services staff, medical personnel, CPS administration, inmates and outside support agencies.
  • Maintains a safe environment for staff, patients and visitors in accordance with CPS/County established policies and procedures.
  • Participates fully in all site-based performance improvement activities in accordance with job responsibilities.
  • Promotes effective working relations as part of a department/unit team to facilitate the department/units to meet its goals and objectives.
  • Attends required Safety Training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards.
  • It is an essential part of the job that CPS can ask the employee to work beyond his/her regularly scheduled hours.
  • Follow all security rules and regulations.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, counseling psychology or related field.
  • Professional experience providing group and individual mental health counseling, diagnosis and treatment of major mental disorders, crisis intervention and/or psychological evaluation techniques [when applicable].
