What are the responsibilities and job description for the Educatioinal Diagnostician position at Corrigan-Camden Independent School District?
Primary Purpose :
Review referrals for individual evaluation to determine appropriate interventions; assess students when an individual evaluation is recommended; ensure that legal requirements for evaluation are met and the evaluation report is shared with campus staff and parents; conduct ARD / IEP meeting and assist building administrator in ensuring that the ARD / IEP process and the quality of programs for students with disabilities are in compliance with Federal, State and Local requirements; review initial evaluations and interpret the educational implications of initial evaluation and reevaluations.
Demonstrates skill in interpretation of assessment instruments in terms of eligibility guidelines, and in relation to classroom performance.
Demonstrates knowledge of appraisal instruments, their utilization and interpretation in making appropriate recommendations for student evaluation and placement.
Demonstrates the ability to competently and accurately organize and compose assessment results.
Demonstrates the ability to assist in the interpretation of needs requisite to improve and revise comprehensive assessment services.
Consultation :
Demonstrates the ability to work with the teacher in preparing an individual education plan.
Possesses the ability to maintain communication with all educational professionals.
Possesses the ability to consult with parents about concerns for their children and to convey the need for assistance to the proper individuals.
Demonstrates the ability to assist the teacher in special instructional methods and techniques and choose special materials for the IEP.
Program Management :
Demonstrates the ability to provide information to school personnel and parents that will facilitate understanding of the comprehensive assessment.
Demonstrates the ability to understand and interpret the school environment in order to implement a comprehensive assessment program and make proper assessment decisions.
Demonstrates the ability to assist in the organization of ARD meetings and conferences and to share appropriate individual data with staff members.
Demonstrates the ability to confidentially disclose information that will assist in the identification of students with special needs and / or problems.
Communication :
Demonstrates the ability to communicate with groups or individuals in an effective manner.
Professionalism :
Exhibits a professional and positive attitude in all interactions with all people and matters involved in schools.
Demonstrates interest in personnel and professional growth by attending in-service meetings, workshops and conferences.
Observes professional ethics; works and co-operates with the entire staff; seeks, shares and respects ideas of others; refrains from revealing confidential information regarding pupils and their families.
Initiates activities to maintain professional competence such as staying abreast of current educational techniques, materials and methods.
Administration :
Supports established administrative policies and directives.
