What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cook position at Corrigan Oil?
Reports to: Chef Manager
Job Overview: The ideal candidate for this position has previous experience, enjoys working in a busy restaurant environment, and is capable of taking direction well and multi-tasking effectively.
Essential Job Functions include, but not limited to:
- Measure and assemble ingredients for menu items
- Prepare foods per menu specifications, allowing for variations to the guests’ expectations
- Maintain accurate food inventories
- Properly store food items at appropriate temperatures
- Consistently check quality of ingredients
- Rotate stock items as per established procedures
- Restock kitchen for subsequent shifts
- Operates various kitchen appliances such as blender, oven, grill, or stand mixer
- Ensure that the food prep area and kitchen are cleaned and sanitized at the end of your shift
- Collaborate with kitchen staff regarding stock, presentation, and temperature of food
- Ability to talk, hear, stand for prolonged periods of time, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch
- Ability to sweep and mop floors, clean countertops, lift and carry trash containers and place in outside bin
- Ability to handle high levels of stress
- Regular and reliable attendance
- Ability to operate in a constant state of alertness
- Follows company quality, safety, and environmental guidelines
Preferred Qualifications/Experience/Education
- 2 years’ experience as a cook in the restaurant industry
- Ability to read and follow standardized recipes
- Strong knowledge of proper food handling procedures
- Ability to work as part of a team in a busy kitchen environment
- ServeSafe Certification preferred
