Job Title: Machinist

The Machinist will work as part of a dynamic and growing team at Corrosion Materials, a specialty metals distribution company and metal service center. The main objective is to read and interpret sketches, prints, and other related technical data to produce quality parts via the use of a diverse variety of machining methods and equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Read sketches or drawings to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and machining methods and sequences.
• Set up tooling, work holding, and workpiece, and operate a variety of machining equipment to perform various machining functions.
• Adjust machining parameters to maximize tool life and minimize run times while maintaining a high level of quality end product within customer requirements.
• Perform dimensional inspection of all machined parts using basic measuring instruments.
• Maintain traceability of heat numbers on all raw materials and machined parts.
• Maintain a neat, clean, and organized work area and machine.
• Maintain a professional and cooperative relationship with all supervisors and co-workers.
• Perform preventative maintenance on machine and related systems.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two or more years of experience operating applicable machining equipment.
• Advanced math skills and ability to calculate and adjust tool and work offsets.
• Ability to interpret basic 2D blueprints and understand cutting tools used for machining and their proper applications.
• Basic understanding of measuring tools and ability to maintain a regular work schedule.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving skills, and time management skills.
