Overview
Corry Manufacturing Company is seeking skilled Tool Makers to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude with previous hands-on experience with machinery and operations. As a Tool Maker, you will be working closely with Engineering, Drafting and our Production team in the design, fabrication, maintenance, and repair of tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges and other precision tools used in the manufacturing processes. Your expertise will contribute to the production of high-quality products in a clean and friendly work environment.
Responsibilities
- Interpret instructions, prints, and technical documents to fabricate precision tools, dies, and fixtures according to specifications.
- Utilize various machining techniques including cutting, grinding, drilling, milling, polishing, CNC machining, and electrical discharge machining (EDM).
- Operate precision measuring instruments to ensure accuracy in tool dimensions.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on existing tools to extend their lifespan and functionality.
- Collaborate with engineers and production staff to troubleshoot tooling issues.
- Assemble tools such as dies, fixtures, and gages while making adjustments for precision features (e.g., spring pockets, risers).
- Maintain efficiency, quality standards, and a clean work environment.
Qualifications
- Entry-Level: High School Diploma or Equivalent with mechanical aptitude and a solid mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using hand tools..
- Experienced: Technical degree or equivalent experience (2-3 years) in building medium-complexity fixtures and tools, as well as operating machinery consistent with cutting, grinding and sharpening
- Ability to read technical drawings and schematics accurately.
- Proficiency with milling machines, CNC machinery, and electrical discharge machining (EDM).
- Strong understanding of precision measuring instruments and their applications.
- Strong math skills for precise calculations related to tool design and fabrication.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
