Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Receptionist as well as a Veterinary Assistant to join our team at a busy veterinary clinic. These two positions require a team member with initiative, enthusiasm, efficiency and a passion for animals. Team members are cross-trained and expected to assist in all areas of the clinic.
Duties for Receptionist
- Greet clients and their pets upon arrival, ensuring a friendly and professional atmosphere.
- Schedule appointments and manage the clinic's calendar efficiently.
- Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries regarding services, treatments, and pet care.
- Maintain accurate patient records, including medical histories and treatment plans.
- Process payments and handle billing inquiries with attention to detail.
- Assist veterinary staff with animal handling during examinations or procedures as needed.
- Provide information to clients about pet care, vaccinations, and preventive health measures.
- Ensure the front desk area is organized and stocked with necessary supplies.
- Handle any client concerns or complaints with empathy and professionalism.
Duties for Veterinary Assistant
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals.
- Perform animal handling tasks, including restraining pets for examinations and treatments.
- Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian, including injections and oral medications.
- Prepare animals for surgery, including catheterization and monitoring vital signs.
- Conduct laboratory tests such as blood draws and urinalysis.
- Maintain accurate medical records and assist with front desk duties when needed.
- Ensure cleanliness of the clinic by sanitizing equipment, exam rooms, and common areas.
- Provide excellent customer service to pet owners by answering questions and educating them on pet care.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Veterinary Receptionist or Veterinary Assistant is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures is an advantage.
- Knowledge of animal physiology and veterinary critical care is highly desirable.
- Skills in animal restraint, handling, and husbandry are beneficial for assisting during appointments.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures related to veterinary medicine.
- Strong skills in animal handling with an emphasis on safety for both pets and staff.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients and team members.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment while also being self-motivated.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with clients and team members professionally.
- Proficient in using office equipment and veterinary management software.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends or holidays if necessary.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: Up to $18.50 per hour
Expected hours: 24 – 40 per week
