Landscape Crew Member
Position Summary:
Landscape Crew Members typically perform a variety of tasks, which may include sod lying, mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, sprinkler installation, and installation of mortar-less segmental concrete masonry wall units.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist with loading and unloading work trucks with product and tools.
- Operate vehicles and powered equipment such as mowers, skid steers, chain saws, gas clippers, sod cutters, and pruning saws.
- Gather and remove litter.
- Maintain and repair tools, equipment or structures.
- Mix and spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, or trees using hand of automatic sprayers or spreaders.
- Maintain irrigation systems.
- Water lawns, trees, or plants and adjust the amount of water consumption to prevent waste.
- Trim or pick flowers and clean flower beds.
- Rake, mulch, and compost leaves.
- Plant seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees, or shrubs and apply mulch for protection.
- Decorate gardens with stones or plants.
- Haul or spread topsoil or straw over seeded soil to hold soil in place.
- Plan or cultivate lawns or gardens.
- Attach wires from planted trees to support stakes.
- Install rock gardens, ponds, decks, drainage systems, irrigation systems, retaining walls, fences, and planters.
- Assist with Mow Crew duties during season
- Mow or edge lawns, using power mowers or edger.
- Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, removing thatch, or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls.
- Use hand tools (shovels, rakes, pruning saws, hedge or brush trimmers, and axes).
- Prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges using shears, pruners, or chain saws.
- Assist with Snow Removal in winter season
- Operate snow blowers and salt spreaders.
- Comply with company safety policy, procedure, and practices
- All other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Willing to work extended hours in inclement weather.
- Lift, pull and push materials and equipment.
- Detail and safety oriented.
- Able to follow specific detail and be self-motivated.
- Able to learn and develop skills over time.
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- Excellent Attendance
- Ability to stand, climb, squat, bend, twist and stand for extended periods of time
- Willing to work flexible and long hours with weekends sometimes required
Working Conditions
Corso's Landscape operates year around with exposure to all seasons and weather conditions. Candidates must be willing to work in cold, hot, humid, rainy, and windy conditions. Employees are responsible for providing their own weather-appropriate attire.
Salary : $17 - $19
