Position Summary:

The Puller Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily expectations of the Pulling Crews and Crew Leaders from set up, maintenance and adjustments.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

• Works with and assigns planting crew and others to work on various tasks related to production.
• Train all new Pullers when they first start. Teach them:
  • How to use the map to find the sections to pull the plants.
  • How to read a Pull List.
  • How to adjust shelves for the proper spacing between shelves
  • Know how to distinguish between Lowes/Home Depot.
  • How to pick out the best quality plants and how to switch the bad plants for the good plants.
  • What the correct number of plants on each shelf should be.
  • How many plants are to be carried in each hand.
  • How to fix pots and put them back in the rows or trays.
  • How to mark each cart with the Zone/Section sticker.
• Work with the Shipping Manager and help with the language gap with the Pullers.
• Obtain the Pull list and work with the Shipping Manager on a daily basis and verify the quantities, locations and quality of product to be pulled.
• Realign pulling crews to meet the daily pull goals.
• Work with the Shipping Manager to determine if a sub needs to be made and what that sub will be and relay the message to the Pulling Crew Leaders.
• Throughout the day go around to all of the Pulling Crew Leaders and Pullers to help if any questions should arise.
• Check carts that are pulled to make sure the correct plant is pulled.
• Check carts that are pulled for missing plants; and if any plants are missing notify the Pulling Crew Leader.
• Correct any pulling crew that you may see pulling something wrong. Whether it is the wrong kind of plant, incorrect size, a non-sellable plant, a plant for the wrong store.
• Report bad or improper work practices of a Pulling Crew Leader and/or Puller to the Shipping Manager after working with them to correct it.
• Ensure that the pulling crews do not run over or disturb irrigation lines; maintain an orderly walkway; leave the pull areas in an orderly manner; maintain a clean and orderly dock area when pulling product from the finishing area.
• Double check pulling crew omissions or errors and assign responsible crew to repair the issue.
• Partner with Quality Control Auditor(s) to ensure top notch quality product is prepped prior to loading.
• Work with Shipping Manager to get work assignments that need addressed and assign pulling crews to meet those needs.
• Willing to be trained and drive a forklift and skid loader.
• Able to use personal cell phone for work related issues during work hours.
• Coach, facilitate, and solve work problems with the pulling crews.
• Partner with Human Resources to investigate, solve and address employee issues, company policies and safety procedures.
• Report to Manager periodically and Human Resources periodically on team and individual work accomplishments, problems, progress, and work processes.
• Boost team members and instill a sense of pride and confidence in them.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• All other duties as assigned.
• Puller Coordinator will assist the Shipping Manager in the greenhouse, dock or in the field.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Bilingual (Spanish and English) *Required*
• Exceptional computer/excel skills.
• Able to walk, bend, climb, twist, squat, and stand for extended periods of time.
• Keen eye for detail and goal oriented.
• Relevant product knowledge.
• Willing to work flexible hours during peak season (March-June & October-November).
• Able to lift, push, pull 5-50lbs. frequently.
• Ability to work in inclement weather.
• Must have reliable transportation and good attendance.
