Corteva Agriscience is seeking a Research Technician to join our Hermiston, Oregon team! This position provides support for Research Wheat Production / Testing and Hybrid Corn Seed Production, with an emphasis on : Equipment Operation, Field Preparation, Seed Planting, Roguing, Detasseling, Harvesting Operations, Plot Maintenance, Filed Data Collection, according to established protocols and timelines; and efficient conditioning, treatment, packaging, and shipping of seed.
What You Will Do (Responsibilities) :
- Provide support for planting, plot maintenance, roguing, data collection, detasseling and harvesting operations according to established protocols and timelines
- Support seed drying and conditioning operations including receiving, husking, shelling, pre-cleaner, discharge, moisture sampling and forklift support through fall and winter.
- Operate heavy equipment including Tractors, Planters, Plows, Detasselers, etc.
- Support data collection and other activities associated with plot testing or seed production including gathering data before, during and after planting, assisting with field layout, planting, integrated pest management, rouging, seed cleaning, detasseling, and other general field support activities
- May participate on hiring committees, organize and supervise temporary or seasonal workers ensuring work is performed in a safe and efficient manner
- Professionally and effectively communicate with Supervisors, cooperators, contractors, and support staff to ensure clear understanding of objectives and project success
- Participate on committees and teams including Safety, Field, Plant, Warehouse, and others
- Lead location safety programs as assigned
- Actively support seed processing and warehouse activities including harvest, drying, conditioning, treat / packaging, and shipping through summer, fall and winter for corn and wheat
- Ability to work with a team or individuals
