The Cortez Sanitation District in southwest Colorado is seeking a dedicated Wastewater Plant Operator to join our team. This is a great opportunity to start or advance your career in the wastewater utility field, working with a 1.6 MGD activated sludge, extended aeration plant. Responsibilities include performing daily operations, monitoring and adjusting plant controls, collecting samples, conducting laboratory analyses, and processing biosolids. The role involves both indoor and outdoor work, handling heavy objects, and participating in a rotating on-call duty schedule.
We offer a competitive starting wage of $22.65/hr. (Trainee) to $27.55/hr. (Operator Certification A), with potential for higher pay based on experience and annual cost of living raises. Requirements include a valid CO driver's license, CDL (within six months of hire), high school diploma/GED, pre-employment drug test, and Wastewater D certification (within six months of hire). On-the-job training is available.
