Job Title: Human Resources Assistant
The work involves responsibility for much of the day-to-day administrative functions of the Personnel Office. A Human Resources Assistant serves as a first contact for employees, municipal officials, department heads and the general public. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, maintenance of various records and files, telephone contact, preparation of reports, roster record tracking, examination administration, etc. The incumbents acts in a supportive role to the Personnel Officer. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Personnel Officer with latitude given to carry out the details of the work. Does related work as required.
Work Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week, with benefits
Salary: $21.7710-28.9773/HR (Management Confidential)
Location: Cortland County Personnel/Civil Service Department
Status: Competitive, provisional

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either:
(a) Possession of an Associate’s degree or higher and two (2) years of clerical experience which involved the operation of a computer for word-processing, database or spreadsheet applications; OR
(b) Possession of a high school diploma or equivalency diploma and four (4) years of clerical experience which involved the operation of a computer for word-processing, database or spreadsheet applications; OR
(c) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (a) and (b) above.
NOTE:
Degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If the degree was awarded by an educational institution outside of the United States and its territories, applicant must provide independent verification of equivalency.
