Job Overview
As Compensation and Benefits Analyst, you are responsible for the corporate compensation and performance management programs and benefit administration, ensuring that Cortland is competitive and able to attract and retain top talent. Here are the roles you’ll play:
Roles You Will Play
The Gatekeeper
- Guide the development of compensation rewards, incentive, and recognition programs
- Execute the business plan for compensation
- Participate in salary surveys for North America
- Work closely with Talent Resource leaders to understand compensation needs
- Complete validation of annual incentive calculations
- Support Talent Resources’ overall business strategies
- Develop and document procedures to streamline processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Create and process benefit invoices ensuring accuracy and timely payment
- Run monthly benefit reports for broker and other benefit reports as needed
The Consultant
- Partner with leadership to establish world-class compensation programs; consistently document processes and strategies
- Assist department heads with compensation-related questions and projects
- Participate in ad hoc projects and analysis for both compensation and benefits
- Assist other Talent Resources functions with data analysis utilizing ATS, HRIS, and LMS
- Partner with Talent Resources to provide timely and relevant compensation data as new roles are created or current roles are redefined
The Analyst
- Participate in salary-planning activities including data analysis, feedback to business partners and managers, and preparing materials for approval meetings
- Conduct market analysis of company jobs to determine competitive positioning of pay programs and compensation
- Evaluate Cortland’s jobs, documenting responsibilities, and requirements in job descriptions
- Assist in creating spreadsheets for equity grants and performance increases

Building Blocks of Success
- Strong 3-5 years of compensation and benefits experience required; global compensation experience a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, real estate, business, or similar field preferred
- Compensation or HR Certification a plus - CCP
- Project management, and management of variable compensation experience; salary banding experience preferred
- Excellent quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills; ability to create financial models
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to communicate clearly and concisely about all areas of compensation
- Ability to work effectively with different roles and personalities
- Superb organizational and strategic planning skills
- High degree of confidentiality and organizational sensitivity
- Ability to work well in a dynamic team environment and independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to concurrently manage multiple tasks, meet tight deadlines, and work well under pressure
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
