Job Overview
As a Debt Capital Markets Analyst, you will join a growing team and make significant contributions to the firm’s success through quarterly reporting, relationship management, and other lender relations responsibilities. The Debt Capital Markets team is responsible for Cortland’s debt placement, portfolio management, and lender relation activities.
Roles You Will Play
The Reports Guru
- Support all aspects of the investment process including originating, structuring, reviewing loan provisions, recapitalizing, and closing asset level loans and fund level facilities
- Leverage an industry-leading analytics foundation to further investment strategy and drive performance
- Manage interest rate risk by analyzing hedging solutions and products
The Data Expert
- Assist with quarterly and annual reporting requirements to deliver accurate and timely information to investors, lenders and internal stakeholders
- Maintain a robust database with astute analysis and recommend improvements to refine modelling assumptions, performance standards, and reporting requirements
- Proactively review existing portfolio loans and upcoming financing pipeline to generate attractive new opportunities
The People Person
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to evaluate and manage complex transactions
- Assist with investor and lender communication, document preparation, and ad hoc data requests to support deal execution
- Prepare presentation materials and deliverables for Cortland’s Investment Committee, as well as current and prospective lender, and other stakeholders
- Produce memoranda and marketing materials for internal and external use

Building Blocks of Success
- Strong 1 - 2 years of experience with institutional capital relationship management and reporting as part of an investment manager, lender, or institutional capital advisory capacity; experience in the real estate industry preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, related major, or equivalent experience
- Stellar analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Sharp attention to detail with an ability to manage competing priorities
- Motivated self-starter with a collaborative attitude and a commitment to excellence
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications; advanced skills in Excel required
