The Utilization Review and Case Management Administrative Supervisor is responsible for directing operation of both UR intake specialists and Case Management Coordinators within a region, which may include one or more of the following functions: human resources, performance goal setting, customer service, and limited sales management.

This is a remote role reporting to our Syracuse, NY office.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for directing a designated group of employees in their day-to-day operations
  • Responsible for overall UR and CM timely assignment for external and internal claims administrated injured workers
  • Ensures quality of services provided, focusing on production and timeliness
  • Responsible for human resources matters directly related to department supervised
  • Independently interpret and apply client contract details to support CorVel’s UR and CM programs
  • Hold individuals accountable to performance expectations and hold monthly one-on-one meetings
  • Perform Coaching and Progressive Counselling to maximize staff quality and productivity
  • Perform annual performance and salary reviews with each team member
  • Interview and hire new team members
  • Communicate via phone, email and/or fax with providers and claims team members relating to certification and CM requests
  • Review daily reports, invoices and logs for accuracy and timely assignments
  • Verify all patient, provider, facility information is accurate and up to date
  • Tracks and follows-through with Expedited Requests for Authorization and/or Escalated Requests for Case Management
  • Train new team members
  • Track quality and trend errors for coaching and retraining
  • Manage all incoming documentation via claims system, mail, email and fax
  • Requires regular and consistent attendance
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect operations by keeping sensitive information confidential Comply with all safety rules and regulations during work hours in conjunction with the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (“IIPP”)
  • May be required to travel overnight to attend meetings
  • Additional projects and duties as assigned.

  • Ability to remain poised in stressful situations and communicate diplomatically via telephone, computer, fax, correspondence, etc.
  • Ability to skillfully manage multiple, complex projects and competing priorities concurrently while working under pressure to meet deadlines and maintaining strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to write and speak clearly, easily communicating complex ideas across multiple platforms
  • Ability to work independently, while remaining available to others
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Office including Excel spreadsheets

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • A.A. degree or equivalent preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in management or supervision
  • Medical terminology and anatomy a plus

Pay Range

CorVel uses a market based approach to pay and our salary ranges may vary depending on your location. Pay rates are established taking into account the following factors: federal, state, and local minimum wage requirements, the geographic location differential, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, internal employee equity, and market conditions. Our ranges may be modified at any time.

For leveled roles (I, II, III, Senior, Lead, etc.) new hires may be slotted into a different level, either up or down, based on assessment during interview process taking into consideration experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role. The level may impact the salary range and these adjustments would be clarified during the offer process.

Pay Range: $45,078 – $72,505
