GNC Intern

Responsibilities

• Develop autopilot logic for trajectory and performance optimization
• Develop, test, and maintain high fidelity physics-based simulation models in MATLAB/Simulink
• Development and execution of CFD solutions and application of the results to systems of interest
• Day-to-day informal and formal report generation
• Support proposal development on an as-needed basis

Requirements

• Able to demonstrate a firm background in guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) as well as familiarity with computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Masters Preferred)
• Previous internship/co-op experience, leadership & teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and activities (professional/community/extracurricular)
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S security clearance
• U.S Citizenship

Preferred Technical Qualifications:

• Experience with autopilot design and tuning
• Familiarity with aircraft and missile guidance algorithms
• Knowledge of static and dynamic stability and flight dynamics modeling
• Strong background in fluid dynamics with experience in all Mach regimes (low-subsonic to hypersonic)
• Understanding of Linux based operating systems
• Familiarity with high performance computing environments
• Familiarity with Fortran and/or C/C
• Familiarity with scripting languages (bash, Python)
• Knowledge of CAD modeling, grid generation (ex: Pointwise), and applied CFD methods are considered a plus
