Position Summary :

The Director of Clinical Development in Immune Diseases and Dermatology is responsible for leading and managing clinical research programs focused on developing drugs or biologics for the treatment of immune-mediated conditions and dermatological diseases. Specific experience in autoimmune / inflammatory diseases such as atopic dermatitis, asthma, and / or inflammatory bowel disease is preferred. Development of agents modulating T cell function also is desired. This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on leadership to drive innovative research, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster collaborations that advance the understanding and treatment of immune-related and dermatological conditions.

Key Responsibilities :

Strategic Leadership

Develop and implement a comprehensive clinical research strategy focused on immune-mediated diseases and dermatological conditions.
Design and implement Phase 2 trial with novel T cell modulating oral agent in atopic dermatitis and other immune disorders.
Align clinical research priorities with organizational goals and industry trends.
Drive innovation in clinical trial design, including biomarker strategies, patient stratification, and novel endpoints.

Clinical Trial Oversight

Design and oversee Phase I-III clinical trials for immune diseases and dermatology therapies.

Ensure trials are conducted in compliance with ICH-GCP, FDA, EMA, and other regulatory standards.

Manage clinical trial budgets, timelines, and resources to achieve milestones effectively.

Oversee data analysis and interpretation to ensure scientifically robust outcomes.

Scientific and Regulatory Expertise

Stay updated on advancements in immunology and dermatology to guide research programs.

Lead regulatory submissions and interactions with agencies such as the FDA and EMA.

Ensure all research activities adhere to ethical standards and prioritize patient safety.

Collaboration and Partnerships

Build and maintain relationships with academic institutions, industry partners, and key opinion leaders.

Represent the organization at scientific conferences, advisory boards, and industry events.

Collaborate with internal teams, including R&D, medical affairs, and commercial teams, to support the lifecycle of therapies.

Team Leadership

Lead, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary team of clinical research professionals.

Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement within the research team.

Innovation in Research

Develop strategies for studying immune-disease mechanisms and translating findings into therapeutic interventions.

Advance precision medicine approaches, including biomarker-driven trial designs.

Ethics and Patient Advocacy

Ensure the highest standards of ethics and patient safety in all clinical research activities.

Work with patient advocacy groups to understand and incorporate patient perspectives in trial designs.

Qualifications :

MD, PhD, or equivalent in immunology, dermatology, clinical research, or related fields.

Significant experience in clinical development, with a focus on immune-mediated diseases and dermatology.

Expertise in designing and executing clinical trials, including biomarker-driven studies.

Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory requirements (FDA, EMA, ICH-GCP) and industry standards.

Proven leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills :

Familiarity with emerging research methodologies in immunology and dermatology.

Experience with translational research and precision medicine.

Experience in design and running of clinical trials with novel agents.

Work Environment :

This role requires periodic travel for site visits, conferences, and stakeholder meetings.

The position is based in Burlingame, CA (South San Francisco in March 2025) and we are not considering remote applicants. Local candidates preferred.
