Social Services Worker 2- Intake Caseworker
We are looking for an engaging and personable individual to join our Children Services- Intake team. Our Social Services Worker 2 position works directly with child abuse/neglect/dependency cases from the start of the case through its first 45 days or closure. The purpose of this position is to ensure child safety by making determinations as to whether a child(ren) is in imminent risk of harm because they are incapable of protecting themselves from physical, mental, and/or sexual abuse. The Social Services Worker 2 position also spends time going on home visits with families, in meetings with other community members/partners, sometimes testifies in court, recording and documenting case files, and meeting state mandates.

Position Overview
Under the direct supervision of the Children Services Intake Supervisor, the Social Services 2- Intake Caseworker position receives and responds to requests/referrals/ or complaints, investigates the complaints, and evaluates the information received and determines the appropriate actions needed to resolve child welfare, abuse, and neglect problems. In addition to trying to provide services to resolve these problems, this positions responsible for documenting and maintaining client/case files, and other related tasks while meeting state mandates. The Social Services Worker 2- Intake Caseworker maintains each case from the assessment phase through the first 45 days before either closing the case or transferring it to an ongoing worker, conducting face to face interviews with all children in a household of assessment, parent/caregiver, and alleged perpetrators. The purpose of this position and these responsibilities is to ensure the safety, permanency and well-being of the child(ren) and implementing necessary safety intervention when applicable.

Minimum Qualifications
In accordance with the Ohio Revised Code, applicants of a Public Children Services Agency must have one of the following:
1. A bachelor’s degree in human services- related studies, or
2. A bachelor’s degree in any field and have been employed for at least two years in a human services occupation, or
3. An associate degree in human services-related studies, or
4. Been employed for at least five years in a human service- related occupation.
*** For employment to continue a person described in options 2, 3, or 4 above MUST obtain a job-related bachelor’s degree no later than five (5) years after the date employment with the agency commences.
