POSITION SUMMARY :
Elmhurst University is seeking a graduate assistant to work in conjunction with the Director of Athletic Communications. The selected candidate will gain hands-on experience in the intercollegiate sports industry while assisting Elmhurst Athletics in growing its brand and telling the stories of its student-athletes. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, writing game preview and recap stories, posting on social media pages, updating statistics in conjunction with CCIW and NCAA policies, and creative content creation.
Special Notation : Offers for this position are conditional upon acceptance into the above-noted graduate program at Elmhurst University. Graduate students must maintain full-time enrollment in their graduate program in order to maintain a graduate assistantship.
Essential Functions
- Serves as primary communications contact for multiple sport programs at Elmhurst.
- Generates press releases, event recaps, feature stories, and related written content.
- Develops, monitors, and creates content for Elmhurst Athletics social media accounts.
- Produces publications, including media guides, game programs, etc.
- Maintains accurate records of teams through updating website and record books.
- Assists in coordination of all home athletic events.

Stipend : $10,000 annual stipend ($1,000 per month between August and May)
Terms : Fall 2025, January and Spring 2026 (if renewed for 2026-27 academic year, then terms would be Fall 2026, January and Spring 2027)
GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIP OVERVIEW : Elmhurst University welcomes applications for a graduate assistantship in Athletic Communications for the 2025-2026 academic year, which is renewable for the 2026-2027 academic year. This is a student position. Interested applicants will need to submit an application for admission into a degree-granting graduate program at elmhurst.edu / graduatestudies and be accepted before becoming eligible for consideration for a graduate assistant position that correlates with their area of study.
Graduate assistants at Elmhurst University may be hired for a half or a full tuition waiver based on 10 or 20 hours of service per week, respectively. Graduate assistants will also receive a stipend while they are working, paid bi-weekly, in support of their continued education. Graduate assistants will work during the Fall and Spring terms at minimum, and may be required to work during January and / or Summer terms.
