VP, Experience Design

Summary: As VP, Experience Design you will be responsible for leading a multi-disciplinary Design Team in developing creative elements to support Cosm’s vast array of digital experiences. This role is designed for a visionary leader, someone who is equally passionate about dreaming up ambitious concepts and seeing them through to meticulous execution. You have spent years honing your skills across research, strategy, concept development, prototyping, and creative production.  You have a track record of delivering high-profile immersive experiences along with the promotional elements that support the experience.  You will inspire a team of technical artists, animators, motion graphics designers, and product designers to continuously push the boundaries of Cosm’s immersive entertainment experiences.  You will guide them from the genesis of an idea to its final realization, ensuring Cosm’s visual identity shines across all platforms and projects. Whether it's developing content in support of Cosm Studios programming, delivering a new touchdown animation for Cosm’s immersive NFL games, or setting the creative direction for a holiday-themed event at a Cosm Venue, your work will redefine the limits of immersive design. This is an executive-level position that requires advanced strategic thinking and a humble willingness to roll up the sleeves and do what needs to be done. This role demands a unique blend of creativity, leadership, and a forward-thinking mindset. You will be responsible for integrating the latest creative trends and technological advancements into your projects to keep Cosm at the leading edge of immersive entertainment experiences. Responsibilities: Build, lead, and mentor a team of exceptionally talented designers to conceptualize, design, and execute Cosm’s immersive entertainment experiences   Work closely with creative leadership to elevate the team’s output and establish a high bar for creative excellence Cultivate strategic partnerships with technology vendors, content creators, and industry stakeholders to explore new opportunities and drive business growth Partner with Venues, Content, and Marketing teams to understand guest needs and to translate them to prioritized creative features Stay current with the latest Unreal Engine features, tools, and industry trends, integrating new techniques into the development process Create the highest-quality real-time visual effects, both in appearance and performance, while adhering to the Cosm’s broader artistic vision Collaborate closely with artists, designers, and engineers to bridge the gap between art and technology, ensuring smooth workflows and rapid asset delivery Identify and solve complex technical challenges related to real-time graphics, lighting, and shading Foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, and continuous learning to inspire excellence and drive results Own Cosm’s creative integrity and champion our design system and overall creative vision both internally and externally Experience: 15 years of experience developing innovative and engaging consumer-facing experiential concepts across digital platforms and physical venues 10 years of experience successfully leading and managing large multi-disciplinary design teams as a manager of managers Proven experience in a senior leadership role overseeing immersive design experiences and overall creative execution Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and influence cross-functional teams Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with artists, designers, and engineers Advanced proficiency in Unreal Engine, with experience in shaders, materials, lighting, and visual effects Advanced proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, and additional 3D engines) Reliable decision-making capabilities based on a solid understanding of how to balance creative expression, executable designs, and business needs Ability to seed and generate a larger sustainable holistic vision across platforms, locations, and various competing initiatives Experience developing interactive or immersive digital sports experiences a plus The annualized base salary range for this position in California is $214,800 to $290,000. The base salary offered will factor in internal equity and may also vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and relevant experience, among other factors.
