Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients to and from various locations within the facility, including treatment areas, diagnostic imaging, and discharge.
- Assist patients with mobility needs, ensuring their comfort and safety during transport.
- Maintain communication with nursing staff regarding patient status and any special requirements during transport.
- Ensure that all necessary equipment is available and in good working condition prior to transporting patients.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures while handling patients and equipment.
- Document transport activities accurately in patient records as required by facility policies.
- Provide basic life support as needed during transport, ensuring immediate response to any medical emergencies.
Experience
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in roles related to home community care or hospital environments, is preferred.
- Familiarity with patient care practices and critical care transport procedures is highly desirable.
- Basic life support certification is required; additional certifications related to patient handling or emergency response are a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work well under pressure and adapt quickly to changing situations while maintaining a focus on patient safety.
