Job Title : Packaging Engineer
Summary :
Collaborates on the design, development, specifications, and commercialization of packaging materials as needed. Conducts necessary testing to ensure packaging materials exceed consumer expectations and meet shipping rigors to arrive undamaged. Ensures designs provide the highest level of efficiency in manufacturing. Provides technical support to the manufacturing group should any issues arise with packaging functionality.

Responsibilities :
Create and maintain package component technical specifications and finished goods assembly specifications.Ensure that packaging specifications comply with all applicable FDA, OTC, and any other regulatory requirements.Supports development form, fit, and function.ERP documentation (ECN) and cataloging of all parts and changes.Design to meet required price / quote.Provide a catalog of component, packaging and finished container options that allow standardization and automation in production.Drive and identify cost / margin improvement projects through the optimization of primary and secondary package design / re-design. Report cost savings initiatives on packaging related projects.Execute line trials, line validation and process capability studies.Support investigations relating to packaging issues, product release performance, and / or customer complaints.Oversee and manage packaging development process, including the creation of packaging designs, prototype development, and performance testing as needed.Troubleshoot new and existing packaging problems involving designs, materials and processes and provide creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions.Ability to manage multiple projects at a time in a fast-paced environment.Support the commercialization process to deliver new products to market.Identify and implement cost saving initiatives related to packaging materials, labor, efficiency, transportation, and storage.Work closely with the supply chain team to optimize packaging supply base for cost, lead time, quality, regionalization, standardization, supply assurance, and compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.Develop and implement comprehensive test plans to ensure that packaging exceeds customer specifications.Install and qualify packaging equipment using IQ / OQ / PQ and OTC validation protocols.Identify, drive, support and implement cost reduction initiatives at the package supplier and the finished goods manufacturer levels.Identify, investigate, and resolve package issues that hinder production efficiency.Performs any other duties or tasks that may be required of you by the companyPromotes and demonstrates behavior consistent with the company’s core values and policiesStandard work :
Evaluate daily deviations and address them accordingly with the right department.Review daily configurations reports, revisions etc.Assure all activities performed are being tracked in the Engineering Dashboard.Evaluate if daily activity expectations were met the previous day by reviewing and analyzing daily Engineering task report, and if not why (Escalate).Requirements :
Education required : Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Packaging Engineering, or related degree.5 to 8 years of Packaging Engineering experience (Advanced knowledge of packaging development / processes / systems / Document control, as well as operations / supply chain processes).Ability to communicate across functions in a proactive and solutions-focused manner.Microsoft Word, Excel, and ERP system understanding.Experienced in problem-solving, leading, and managing projects and projects teamsConsumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Packaging experienceMinimum five years of professional experience in packaging design and testingThorough knowledge of packing materials, production processes and specificationsProficiency in industry-leading packaging CAD program(s)Must have demonstrated project management skills, proficient planning and organizational skills, strong initiative, accountability, and attention to detail.LEAN manufacturing and continuous improvement mentality.Cosmetic Solutions LLC. is committed to equal employment opportunity for all employees and applicants for employment without regard to age, color, creed, disability status, gender, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation or veteran status, or any other legally protected status.
