Job Title: Packaging Technician

Summary:

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Packaging Technician to join our dynamic cosmetic and OTC manufacturing team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring our packaging meets the highest standards by conducting fill capacity tests, fit, form, and function evaluations to ensure compliance with fill claims, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. You will also actively participate in line trials, collaborating closely with Quality and Purchasing teams to troubleshoot packaging challenges and drive continuous improvement. Organizational Relationships:

• Reports to Senior Process Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Perform fill capacity tests to ensure compliance with volumetric and mass claims and issue reports.
• Conduct fit, form, and function testing to assess packaging performance and issue reports.
• Assist in line trials to ensure packaging meets regulatory and company standards.
• Assist production and maintenance departments during line setups if required.
• Define and optimize pallet patterns for efficient storage and shipping.
• Recommend appropriate shipping boxes to maintain product integrity during transit.
• Collaborate with Quality, Production, and Engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve packaging-related issues including customer complaints.
• Document and report test results, deviations, and corrective actions.
• Ensure packaging components are compatible with hot pour formulas and other specialized products.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to packaging efficiency and compliance.

Requirements:

• Experience: 2 years in a packaging-related role within the cosmetic, OTC, or pharmaceutical industry.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification in packaging is a plus.
• Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Packaging experience.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

Technical Skills:

• Understanding of volumetric and mass claim requirements.
• Experience with fit, form, and function testing of packaging materials.
• Knowledge of pallet patterns designs and shipping box optimization using packaging software.
• Familiarity with hot pour formula packaging requirements.
• Microsoft Word, Excel, and ERP system understanding.
• LEAN manufacturing and continuous improvement mentality.

Soft Skills:

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects at a time in a fast-paced environment.

Standard work:

• Evaluate daily deviations and address them accordingly with the right department.
• Review daily configurations reports, revisions etc.
• Assure all activities performed are being tracked in the Engineering Dashboard.
• Perform fill capacity and fit form, and function testing and their reports.
• Evaluate if daily activity expectations were met the previous day by reviewing and analyzing daily Engineering task report, and if not why (Escalate).

  • How create a final configuration in NetSuite.
  • How to revise an item on existing configurations
  • How to create an inventory item in NetSuite
  • How to calculate correct fill weight

Compensation: $20-$25/h (based on experience).
