We are looking for a new ideal team player as a Director of Accounting in our Finance Department. The Director of Accounting is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization's accounting functions, including developing and maintaining accounting policies, managing the accounting team, ensuring compliance with regulations, preparing financial statements, budgeting, and coordinating with external auditors to maintain financial accuracy and integrity within the company.
Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead the accounting team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities to staff based on their expertise.
- Foster a positive work environment within the accounting department.
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and potential risks.
- Provide insightful financial reports to senior management for decision-making.
Accounting Policy and Compliance:
- Establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting regulations and tax laws.
- Monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Develop and manage annual budgets for the organization.
- Prepare financial forecasts and projections to support strategic planning.
- Maintain and enhance the cash forecasting process.
Audit Management:
- Coordinate with external auditors during the audit process.
- Review audit findings and implement necessary corrective actions.
System Implementation and Maintenance:
- Evaluate and implement new accounting software systems.
- Monitor and maintain the integrity of accounting systems.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments within the organization to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Provide financial expertise and support to cross-functional teams.
- Other tasks as assigned.
You will hold the following qualifications for this role:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
- Minimum of 8 years total accounting/finance experience, including at least 2 years supervisory experience required.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
- Two years of public accounting experience is preferred.
- Experience in the manufacturing/retail industry including a working knowledge of standard costing and cost allocation methods is a plus.
The competencies and skills you will hold are as follows:
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
- Proven leadership and supervisory abilities.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite, including high level of proficiency in Excel.
- Proficiency working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software applications.
- Familiarity with Power BI or other business intelligence software preferred.
- Familiarity with Workday software a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
