What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Counselor (Seasonal) position at Cosmosphere?
The Summer Camp Counselor will be an integral part of the Cosmosphere educational team working under the direction of the Camp Director. The Camp Counselor will also work closely alongside other key education staff members to ensure their assigned Cosmosphere Camp(s) are delivered with excellence. This will include preparing for and delivery of camp content, working with other counselors, and ensuring all campers are safe, engaged, included, and inspired during their camp experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with delivery of camp as assigned;
- Work closely with Camp Directors.
- Develop appropriate relationships with campers and their parents;
- Assist with set-up and clean-up of camp activities for assigned camps and for other camps as needed;
- Supervise campers during meal times;
- Supervise campers during transition times;
- Participate actively in camp training sessions.
- Continuous development of excellent communication skills and high-performance levels are expected
- Ability to run all simulator operations from preparation to conclusion as required
- Proactive problem solving and implementation
- Serve as a consistent support system for the coordinators office, education staff and directors
- Take an active role in all attended meetings
- General assistance as requested and required to keep other educational programming operating at a high level.
- Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Education and other full-time Education staff.
Requirements:
- Education: High School graduate and be 18 years old prior to camp start date.
- Good communication, organizational, leadership and management skills.
- Positive attitude and friendly demeanor.
- Ability to work independently.
