Subsitutes are called to work at various campuses as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required and prior job experience preferred
REPORTS TO:
Kitchen Manager
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Handle, prepare and serve food according to directions on food production worksheets
- Serve and prepare salads, vegetables, meats, breads, soups, sauces and desserts
- Portion and arrange food in or on serving dishes; also responsible for peeling, washing and cutting vegetables or fruit
- Weigh and measure designated ingredients
- Set up food items, condiments and utensils for cafeteria line including making sandwiches to order
- Responsible for transporting food to and from work stations, stoves and refrigerators
- Replenish food at serving stations as needed
- Maintain adequate supplies of food being offered to customers along with all necessary paper products needed
- Perform both front and back of house service, food preparation and sanitation duties
- Maintain and follow all standard operating procedures and rules
- Must maintain production logs daily and keep excellent communication between team members
- Clean work areas, scrub and polish counters and other equipment on daily basis
- Frequently scrub or wash trays, pots and pans and other equipment in dish room
- Must attend meetings or training courses as required
- When assigned to station as cashier, will setup bank, reconcile and follow cashier policy
- Knowledge of proper methods of preparing, cooking and storing food; health and safety rules and regulations pertaining to schools; nutritional and operational requirements of the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs and related federal and state regulations
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Basic math skills and ability to apply weights, measures and amounts in recipes
- Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions
- Willingness to rotate to various cafeterias throughout the district as needed
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Regularly monitor district email for pertinent communication and timely responses.
- Submit all data and information as requested.
- Attend meetings as scheduled by supervisors and district administrators.
- Complete requested paperwork.
- Be proficient with and have the ability to adapt to basic workplace technology.
- Prioritize safety by, among other things, ensuring that all doors and windows are appropriately locked.
- Maintain awareness and understanding of the district's crisis management plan.
- Model a high standard of professional excellence in the school, community, and on social media.
- Maintain a positive attitude and a vision of growth and support for the district.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Climb; ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps, etc.
- Stoop; bending body downward and forward
- Crouch; bending body downward and forward by bending legs and spine
- Handling; seizing, holding, grasping, turning or otherwise working with hand or hands
- Manual dexterity to use office equipment
- Repetitive movement of fingers and hands for keyboarding
- Maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem-solving skills while under stress
- Must be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for decision-making
- Perform all duties in a safe and responsible manner; observe all safety precautions
