Summary
As a laborer, you are a member of a collaborative team that contributes to the success of a variety of assignments nationwide in the areas of grading, steel and structure reinforcement, concrete application, machine operations, plumbing, and carpentry. The work is performed efficiently, safely, and according to specifications. This role is hands-on and nonexempt.

Shift: First shift; 40 hours typically but may vary based on need

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform various general labor duties in a safe, efficient manner that is according to specifications.
- Use power tools such as drills, saws, and handheld grinders. Use basic hand tools such as a tape measure, hammer, pliers, shovel, rake, etc.
- Operate light and heavy equipment such as shotcrete pumps, air compressors, rough terrain forklifts, skid loaders, and sit down forklifts.
- Operate personnel lifting equipment, such as scissor lifts and boom lifts.
- Ensure safety requirements and equipment guidelines are met by removing hazards in the work area, cleaning up dirt and debris.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures. Perform other tasks as assigned.
Knowledge, Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred: construction knowledge including reading and understanding blueprints, and using common construction tools and equipment - OSHA-10 certification
Experience
- One year in construction or other labor-intensive role; or a combination of experience and education
- Preferred: forklift and light equipment operation; welding, concrete, and fiberglass, and artistic construction
Skills, Abilities
- Must demonstrate COST’s Core Competencies
- Strong reading comprehension, common sense, and listening skills, to understand and follow instructions
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally
- Critical thinking skills involving variables; strong attention to detail
- Ability to work in a safe manner; preferred: OSHA safety experience/ awareness

Physical Demands
- Strength and stamina, including the ability to work outside in varying weather conditions· Must have close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Must lift 70 lbs. floor to waist, 90 lbs. waist to chest, and 25 lbs. chest to above head. Must carry 50 lbs. a distance of 50 ft., push a 100 lb. wheeled cart a distance of 100 ft., and drag 50 lbs. a distance of 100 ft.
- Regularly stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel; regularly walk, climb, stand, or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Work Environment
- Standard production work environment includes exposure to odors, fumes, or airborne particles.
- Typical machinery noise is moderate to loud.
- Additional or extended hours and overtime may be required, depending on the project deadline.
