The Vice President of GIS will oversee a group of GIS Directors and Specialists whose focus is discovering patterns and trends through spatial mapping, developing mapping applications and tools and managing a digital library of geographic maps in various files type.
In this role you will work closely with senior leadership by explaining geographic trends and finds from your analysis to support the ongoing maintenance and dissemination of data and applications in the GIS environment. They will be responsible for the supervision of all Senior & GIS Analysts assigned to them.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the on-going spatial data maintenance and dissemination, end-user support and the generation of maps and other GIS reports and information product.
Oversee the compiling and organizing GIS data from maps, databases and other sources.
Lead the collection and conversion of mapping resources and data.
Conduct programmatic and manual analysis and create reports and thematic maps on the data within the GIS.
Ensure that quality assurance on new or revised data conforms to standards laid out in the GeoDatabase, or any other applicable standard or policy.
Oversee the conversion, import and export data in and out of the GIS system.
Direct the preparation of regular status reports, highlighting GIS issues requiring attention.
Recommend and establish standards and procedures to deal with production of high priority data, maps and services.
Manage and administrate the GIS computing infrastructure, as well as develop and maintain online mapping applications and databases for internal and external use.
Create and document procedures and metadata definitions.
Ability to hire, develop, coach, mentor, and empower GIS team.
Develop and maintain relationships with product team and technology.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role
Bachelor’s degree required; Masters preferred
10 years of direct management and responsibility for a team of GIS analyst
10 years’ experience and knowledge with GIS databases and editing using software such as ArcGIS and MapInfo
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Manage and mentor team members, ensuring that they have the necessary skills, resources, and support
Drives the development, coaching, and training of team members by setting goals and deadlines
Must have permanent authorization to work in the United States
Ability to travel-primarily domestic with the possibility of international travel
Proven ability to develop and execute a GIS strategy that aligns with business objectives
Strong project management skills to ensure that all GIS projects and initiatives are delivered on time, within budget, and meet business requirements
Manage relationships with key partners, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of GIS data and technologies across the organization
