Job Overview
Oversees and directs operations of Bakery department and other areas of the warehouse. Addresses personnel issues and oversees tasks performed by supervisors and employees. Responsible to understand, teach, and maintain our culture, core values and ethics. This is a full-time management/leadership position (45 hours per week).
Duties
- Observes employee performance, coaching as needed to ensure department, business and company procedures and standards are met.
- Reviews work product, monitors workload and sets standards for productivity and accuracy.
- Conducts yearly performance reviews and provides regular coaching and training to all staff.
- Responds to employee concerns using problem-solving skills, tact, and discretion in accordance with the Costco Employee Agreement and other applicable regulations.
- Develops and maintains a team atmosphere through communication and mentoring. Establishes new ways of acknowledging positive performance to support employee morale.
- Reviews applicant submissions for job postings, conducts interviews and makes recommendations regarding hiring status.
- Schedules, develops, counsels, trains, and directs department personnel. Makes recommendations for hiring, promotion, and termination to Warehouse Manager. Reviews and approves area timecards. Drafts and participates in presentation of employee performance evaluations.
- Implements and upholds safety and security procedures. Ensures health code compliance, such as monitoring of sanitation, temperatures, pull dates.
- Reviews department profit and loss statement. Develops and implements sales and merchandising plan for department.
- Observes employees to ensure proper departmental production procedures and standards are followed. Checks quality and consistency of finished product.
- Determines production requirements and participates in baking product. Oversees product presentation and merchandising.
- Approves and submits physical inventory periodically (13 times per year). Approves and submits orders to buying office for equipment, product, and supplies.
- Coordinates proper maintenance and repairs for machinery, equipment, and implements.
- Ensures proper disposal of potentially hazardous materials.
- Regular and reliable workplace attendance at your assigned location.

- Cake slicer, scales, food processor, proofing boxes, ovens, wheeled racks, bowl lift, pallet jack, large power mixer, muffin depositor, food processor, computer, printer, phone, fax, copier, calculator.
Skills
Recommended:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Management, bakery, merchandising experience preferred.
- Computer and math skills preferred.
