Pay range: $35.58 - $42.79. Requires a four-year degree in accounting, business or finance; or significant relevant work experience.

Position Summary
The Internal Post Payment Auditor researches purchase orders and invoices, accounts payable history, accounts receivables, pricing conditions, promotional allowances, vendor agreements/contracts, overpayments, emails, electronic files, and various other sources of information to recover lost profits due to Costco Wholesale.
Job Duties/Essential Functions
- Reviews and evaluates financial information, including buyers’ files, purchase orders, merchandise invoices, accounts payable and receivable history, and other documents to ensure accuracy of our buying programs.
- Performs post-payment recovery audits to identify recovery opportunities.
- Leads the preparation and completion of audit related projects.
- Reconciles complex merchandise driven vendor programs over multiple years to determine accuracy and completeness, or if remaining funds exist.
- Presents claims to management, vendors, and buying staff for review and approval.
- Provides supporting documentation to management, buyers, and vendors.
- Manages and tracks personal claim production.
- Makes recommendations regarding process improvement in payment-related operations to prevent future loss to Costco.
- Leverages internal and external tools to perform auditor routines and manage claim lifecycle.
- Performs journal entries to either the general ledger or vendor AP subledger to ensure our financial statements are accurate.
- Assists the department and/or peers as needed.

Experience, skills, education & licenses/certifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Accounting, Finance, or Business and/or three (3) years or more of Recovery Audit or Accounts Payable/Receivable experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret vendor purchase and funding agreements, financial reports/reconciliations, email correspondence, and legal documents.
- Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
- Curious mindset and inclination to think critically.
- Ability to apply mathematical operations to a variety of tasks.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Strong analytical skill set coupled with a desire to perform extensive research and draw conclusions from that research.
- Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and all organizational levels of Costco.
- Positive attitude; ability to work independently and remain self-motivated.
- Goal-oriented; able to meet deadlines.
Recommended:
- Understanding of U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Suite
