The Costco Digital Services Division is inviting students currently enrolled in an IT undergraduate or graduate program at a college or university to participate in a 12-week paid internship program during the Summer of 2025. Interns will work within specific areas in Costco’s Information Systems Division. Interns will attend presentations given by various members of Executive Management from IT and other areas of the Company. Interns will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses. Housing is not provided. The program runs mid-June to early September and is located in Issaquah, WA. No out of state work allowed.
The GDX Performance Engineering Team is involved in the architecting, designing, and building of distributed software systems and products which are deployed in the cloud (GCP/Azure) and consumed by engineers within the GDX team. The software engineers in the performance engineering teams are involved in building full-stack software (i.e. frontend, backend, and the CI/CD pipelines). The engineers in this team also specialize in high loads/at-scale issues and perform engineering analysis, provide insights and hypotheses for at-scale issues, and provide guidance to others. The interns are expected to work alongside other engineers in the team and contribute to the team’s success while getting fully immersed in the Costco Culture.
NOTE: While participating in the IT Internship program, an individual will be classified as an hourly temporary employee for the duration of the program. During the program, the individual may be asked to undergo the normal interview process for a level 1 position. If the individual is offered a position, they will be converted to the employment status matching open job they were selected for. Internships last for twelve weeks. If they are not selected for a regular position, the internship position will be complete in a maximum of twelve weeks.

- Knowledge / experience in backend service development using Java, Spring framework, Javascript, typescript, Node.js.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess good organizational, time, and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize, and stay well organized.
- Must be maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Must be students currently enrolled in an IT undergraduate or graduate program at a community college, college or university.
- AI / ML experience with good coding skills in python.
- Computer science or engineering background.
- Proficient in Google Workspace applications, including Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Gmail.
