Position Summary
Oversees employees, coordinates activities and upholds company and department standards. Promotes a high level of
productivity and member service. Performs computer duties for the register system controller.
Job Duties/Essential Functions
● Observes employee performance, coaching as needed to ensure department, business and company procedures and
standards are met.
● Reviews work product, monitors workload and sets standards for productivity and accuracy.
● Conducts yearly performance reviews and provides regular coaching and training to all staff.
● Responds to employee concerns using problem-solving skills, tact, and discretion in accordance with the Costco Employee
Agreement and other applicable regulations.
● Develops and maintains a team atmosphere through communication and mentoring. Establishes new ways of
acknowledging positive performance to support employee morale.
● Reviews applicant submissions for job postings, conducts interviews and makes recommendations regarding hiring status.
● Determines number of registers needed to accommodate members and maintain productivity. Coordinates employee
breaks, lunches, and side tasks. Asks for help from other departments when necessary.
● Arranges register fund increases and change orders, delivers lock-up merchandise, verifies prices, approves checks,
assists with cashier questions, overrides register system flags and corrects problems to enable smooth flow of members
through the lines.
● Drafts and participates in presentation of performance reviews. Interviews prospective employees and makes
recommendations to managers for further interviews.
● Observes employee performance and paperwork to determine that proper department procedures are followed. Provides
training, encouragement, advice and feedback to Front End employees.
● Carries out and ensures employee participation in Front End Manager’s plans for special promotions and increasing
department productivity.
● Performs cashiering, boxing, and other Front End duties as necessary, upholding safety and security procedures.
● Assists members with questions and problems regarding merchandise, membership, payment or service to provide prompt
and courteous member service.
● Performs support duties for Front End management team. Schedules employees, makes supply orders, arranges for
equipment maintenance and repair, tracks employee errors, oversees member service crew, and coordinates and tracks
safety training and merchandise return audits.
● Ensures proper disposal of potentially hazardous materials.
● Regular and reliable workplace attendance at your assigned location.
● This is a full-time management/leadership position (45 hours per week).
Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery
● Computer, printer, copier, phone, fax, calculator, cash register, 2-way radio, and hand-held/table top scanners.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $30.65 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
