JOB SUMMARY
As a Corrosion Technician for Coterra, you are responsible for performing duties related to corrosion control and prevention in company owned pipeline and infrastructure. You will perform tasks surrounding cathodic protection, atmospheric corrosion control, and internal corrosion control. You will utilize standard industry corrosion prevention techniques, and be responsible to ensure the integrity of the gathering facilities and pipeline systems and equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Designs, installs and maintains corrosion control systems
Conducts annual cathodic protection surveys and maintains appropriate related records and documentation
Directs and inspects new cathodic protection systems installations
Troubleshoots, and performs analysis and repairs of areas with pipe to soil potentials that do not meet established criteria
Participates in planning and assists with preparation of job plans, contract negotiation, cost budgeting and forecasting related to corrosion prevention activities
Other tasks as assigned
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Valid Motor Vehicle Driver License
Working knowledge of cathodic corrosion control and solid understanding of corrosion mechanisms and mitigation techniques
Proficiency with corrosion related testing equipment such as multi-meters, reference electrodes, current interrupters, pipe and cable locators, chart recorders and data loggers
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Must possess strong commitment to personal and job safety
Must be detail oriented with the ability to multi-task with attention to accuracy
Must be team player that possess the ability to adapt to a changing and fast paced work environment
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High School or GED
This role typically requires skills acquired through the completion of a High School Diploma or equivalent; previous experience may be considered in lieu of education.
NACE Corrosion Technician Certification preferred.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
5-7 years Minimum of 5 years' industry experience.
3-5 years Minimum of 3 years' experience with cathodic corrosion prevention/control
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is typically performed indoors in an office environment. Incumbents must be able to perform work which includes typing, sitting, and standing. In the event that incumbent visits operations worksite, personal protection equipment, including head protection, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame-resistant clothing is required. Safety rules including OSHA and DOT requirements are strictly enforced. Employees must be willing to travel and work extended hours on short notice.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires a valid state issued driver’s license, and employees must pass an initial drug and alcohol screening at hire. Incumbents in the position may be subject to random drug and alcohol screenings as per the DOT Regulations. Required to travel between field sites to perform daily tasks.
