What are the responsibilities and job description for the IPM Manager/Grower position at Cottage Gardens Inc?
Position Summary:
The ideal candidate would have similar experience in golf course maintenance background, lawn maintenance (Chemlawn, etc), farm, or nursery. The role is responsible for supervising a small crew who apply chemicals to plants. This role will also assist with application.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring nursery stock is healthy by monitoring plant health and developing plans for corrective action using pesticides, herbicides and fungicides
- Responsible for developing yearly month by month spray calendar, plus any corrective sprays needed based on monitoring
- Responsible for managing weed control applications on driveways and plants
- Weekly monitoring of all plant material including lines
- Selection of chemicals to be applied
- Supervise and assist with application (as necessary)
- Stock or purchase all chemicals needed in advance of their need
- Responsible for follow-up and evaluation of all sprays applied
- Responsible for all safety measures required by law during handling and application of all sprays
- Responsible for complying with all W.P.S. rules and regulations including PPE and posting of sprays
- Monitor soil and p.h. and s.s.
- Monitor all water sources, ponds and wells
- Attend educational meetings as is practicable
- Visit other nurseries
- Work with county extension agent on problem areas
