Cottage Grove High School seeks a Chemistry and Physics teacher skilled at creating meaningful relationships and engaging lessons to inspire students to learn about science and the world around them. This position would be an essential part of an experienced and energetic science department and a school staff with the mission to partner with parents and the community to help students find their direction for their future.
Cottage Grove High School has 600 students in grades 9-12, promoting a welcoming and positive experience for all students. It offers a wide variety of courses, opportunities, and experiences to challenge and prepare them for tomorrow. CGHS is constantly evolving and remains a local leader in CTE, technology, and instruction.
Qualifications
- Valid Oregon Teaching Certificate in science with chemistry and physics science endorsements (or the ability to obtain)
- Experience teaching science at the secondary level
- Experience and knowledge of chemical storage, management and safety.
- Demonstrated abilities (written and/or oral) to plan and implement instruction around district curriculum guides
- Ability to work and communicate with students, teachers, parents, and administrators
- Ability to contribute in a meaningful way with an experienced team of instructors
- Interest in gaining certification to teach College Now Chemistry and Physics
Preferred Qualities
- Ability to be credentialed to teach AP/CN/Duel enrollment classes
- ESOL endorsements preferred
- Evidence of multicultural experience and cultural competency
- Bilingual proficiency and/or multicultural experience are strongly preferred
- Willingness to coach and/or advise sports, clubs or activities
Salary
Salary will be determined by the teaching experience and degree level in accordance with the license Salary schedule.
