What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Practitioner position at Cottage Health?
The Trauma Nurse Practitioner works in collaboration with the Trauma Medical Director and additional members of the professional health care team to participate in the diagnosis, treatment and management of trauma patients admitted to the Trauma Service. The Trauma Nurse Practitioner's practice incorporates both independent and collaborative decision making under the direction and guidance of the Trauma Attending Physicians, as well as in accordance with established clinical protocols to provide high quality evidence-based care to trauma patients. The Nurse Practitioner is responsible to the medical director and the Trauma Program Manager and functions as an integral part of the medical team.
QUALIFICATIONS
Level of Education
- Minimum: Master of Nursing (MSN) Degree. Graduate from an accredited Nurse practitioner program approved by the California Board of Registered. Nursing as defined in Section 1482, Nurse Practice Act, Business and Professional Code.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
- Minimum: Current State of California Registered Nurse license
- Current California Licensure and Certificate to practice as a Nurse Practitioner
- California Furnishing License
- Valid Drug Enforcement Agency license
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Approval for privileges by Medical Staff
- National Certification or eligibility for certification as a Nurse Practitioner
Years of Related Work Experience
- Minimum: Three (3) years experience as a staff nurse.
