Overview
Cottage Lake Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant. Our practice currently consists of 5 Veterinarians and 14 support staff, and continues to grow! We are a family-owned, PRIVATE Practice, AAHA-accredited hospital. We are currently open Monday – Friday, but we have plans to add Saturdays in the near future and would prefer candidates open to schedules that include Saturdays.
We are proud to offer a wide range of veterinary services for small animals including dentistry, nutritional counselling, digital radiology, ultrasound, wellness and vaccination programs, routine as well as specialty surgery, laser therapy, and more.
We are looking for an experienced, team oriented individual who understands the role of the Veterinary Assistant. Their ability to anticipate the needs of the doctors to keep everything moving is essential to the daily success of our clinic. If you can think on your feet without letting things fall through the cracks, we would love to talk to you!
Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, including safe animal handling, venipuncture, IV catheters, anesthesia monitoring, and other medical treatments.
- Perform routine laboratory tests and assist with diagnostic imaging.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation using veterinary terminology.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals in the clinic or hospital setting.
- Clean and sterilize instruments, equipment, and work areas to maintain a safe environment.
- Educate pet owners on proper care techniques and follow-up instructions.
Experience
- Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant is required.
- Familiarity with animal physiology, handling techniques, and restraint methods is advantageous.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology is essential for effective communication within the team.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with team members, clients and their pets.
