What are the responsibilities and job description for the Funeral Director position at Cotter Funeral & Cremation Care?
"Job Summary”
IF YOU ARE NOT A LICENSED FUNERAL DIRECTOR IN WISCONSIN YOU CAN STOP READING
We are seeking a compassionate and professional Funeral Director to join our team. We value having our funeral directors spend as much time as possible getting to know families and caring for them in a deeply personal way and as such, this is a growth position, not a replacement for someone who left.
If you're looking at this post, you know what a funeral director does so let's focus on the ways you can thrive here. As a Funeral Director, you will be responsible for providing support and guidance to grieving families during their time of loss. Given the right tools and support, you can make all the difference in how their journey to healing begins. You will also oversee the planning and coordination of funeral services, ensuring that all arrangements are carried out with the utmost care, respect and attention to those very important "little details." In particular, you will be challenged to find ways to make the process unique and impactful for the family in our care. To do that, you will have to think outside the box, and know that you will have the support of your leaders to help carry out the vision you create with the family in our care. Have something that worked well for you in the past or an idea you think could help- we are all ears. No one has all the answers, so let's work together to help our families in the best way possible.
Let's talk about the preparation room, the most sacred room in our building. This is where we make the difference between simply having an opportunity to say goodbye, and having a healing experience. This is where our care and attention to detail provides the family a positive image of their loved one, even though they may have had a difficult and painful dying experience. If you don't like spending extra time on restoration, making sure an embalming is truly completed thoroughly, or helping an area colleague who is overwhelmed and needs help, you need not apply.
Being honest...this job can suck sometimes. Whether it's the hours or the emotional toll it can take on you, there are days we can't wait to be over. This is the part where a company's culture comes into play. Are you going to be supported, challenged and cared for at work, or are you going to be a cog in the machine that can be replaced and run into the ground until you burn out and never want to set foot in a funeral home again? We don't want a cog in the machine...we want someone who can positively contribute to our culture and believe in our mission.
If you think this sounds appealing to you- let's chat. No obligation ever- just open and honest conversation.
