Accounting Assistant
This person will be responsible for providing support and technical assistance to the acounting department, maintaining financial records, reconciling accounts, and ensuring that all transactions are properly recorded.
Basic job functions, essential functions, and specific duties:
- Ensure accurate reporting of month end accounting.
- Reconcile bank statements and maintain accurate financial records.
- Final reconciliation of company credit cards and preparation of journal entry.
- Assist in preparing 1099s for vendors annually.
- Compile and process monthly accruals.
- Processes reclassification journal entries.
- Research and resolve accounting issues as needed.
- Assist in cross training within the accounting department.
- Give technical assistance to other department staff.
- Assist in identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities in the efficiency of the accounting department.
- Other duties as requested by the Accounting Manager.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma (or equivalent) and an Associate's Degree in Accounting or related field required.
- At least 2 years experience in a Finance or Accounting role required.
- An equivalent combination of related education, training and relevant experience may substitute for the education or experience requirements.
- Ability to maintain key skills of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
- Detail oriented with skill in documenting information accurately.
- Strong clerical skills and computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Working knowledge of, or the ability to quickly learn and utilize, Company software programs.
- Must possess strong leadership and motivation skills to guide team members in making consistent progress in training goals.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly, both written and orally.
- Ability to work with others to maintain a positive work environment.
- Ability to handle complex information with discretion and maintain the confidentiality of all company information.
- Must be adept at problem-solving, including being able to identify issues and resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Reliable with excellent attendance.
- Ability to work safely and follow all safety rules and regulations.
- Ability to sit at static work location for extended periods.
