What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Teacher position at Cottesmore Child Care?
We are actively seeking a caring individual who can engage with children by playing, singing, listening, talking, storytelling, dancing, painting, and so much more. We want everyone to have FUN, while teaching skills, guiding behavior, and building relationships with children.
There is a Full-Time position available with our Non-Profit organization (not affiliated with a church or franchise) in our toddler classroom. Duties
The lead teacher is responsible for the care and supervision of a classroom of children. The primary responsibilities include curriculum development and implementation, parent-teacher communication, and supervision of assistant teachers as needed.
Supervision and support
- The Lead Teacher will report directly to the Director/Administrator and will meet weekly to go over lesson plans and classroom management.
- Director/Administrator will observe in the classroom once a month and provide feedback and coaching
- Newer teachers will be paired with an experienced teacher in a mentorship role
Requirements
- An AA/BA in ECE, Child Development, or related area or a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or two (2) years of child care experience as a teacher.
- Must have or be willing to obtain Child Care Basics (30 hours STARS) training
- Must be willing to obtain and maintain Basic First Aid, Infant/Child CPR/First Aid certification, and MAT (Medical Administration Training).
- HIV/Blood Borne Pathogens Training
- Food Handlers Permit or be willing to obtain
- TB Test
- Must clear a full background check
- Be responsive to the unique needs and culture of families, such as single parents, grandparents as caregivers, co-parenting relationships, LGTBQ families, non-English speaking, teen parents, domestic violence situations, and more.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel, Google Docs, Zoom, or other online meeting platforms.
